The EUROSTUDENT project is glad to launch its new working paper series with a first contribution titled "Poor students, rich students – What actually determines the income concentration among students in Europe? . Hendrik Schirmer and Christoph Gwosć examine financial inequality among students in 28 countries of the European Higher Education Area. The study shows that while family background and parental support shape students’ financial situations, robust public student support systems can substantially reduce inequality and strengthen equity of opportunity in higher education.
With the working paper series, EUROSTUDENT hopes to provide an outlet for publication and exchange among users of the EUROSTUDENT data.
