Writing is so overrated. A reflection on how GenAI challenges writing assignments

The rise of Generative AI challenges the traditional role of writing assignments in higher education, prompting a re-evaluation of their effectiveness in developing academic competences and skills. Higher education needs a reflection on whether – and if so, how – these assignments can be redesigned to guarantee their alignment with learning outcomes for tomorrow's society. At the EUROSTUDENT Talks on the 12th of March, Bertel De Groote (Ghent University & University of Liège) encouraged to reflect on the paradigm shift Generative AI will cause for higher education.
